Le projet 3SqAir (Sustainable Smart Strategy for Air Quality Assurance in Classrooms) vise à améliorer la santé des personnes en analysant et en intervenant dans la qualité de l’air des bâtiments scolaires afin de l’améliorer. Il s’inscrit dans le cadre du programme Interreg SUDOE et implique plusieurs entités de 4 pays.

On April 20, we celebrated the Final results dissemination evento of the 3SQAIR Project with the participation and contribution of all the project partners.

Two days of intense work in which we presented the results of the pilot projects, the experiences carried out in the centers as well as the doubts and challenges that the project has generated.

Sustainable Solutions that guarantee Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in classrooms

The 3SqAir project will present its results soon in two informative sessions that will take place in Bilbao and Donostia on April 20th and 21st.

The event will include the results of the project, aimed at understanding and improving the air quality inside educational buildings.

It will feature presentations by experts, reports and documentation produced around this issue, data extracted from devices placed in different buildings, and visits to buildings that have participated in the project.

In order to share experiences and good practices around the important issue of indoor air quality, Cerema and Greease have organized an interesting technical conference.

During the event we will have the opportunity to learn more about this topic in addition to the devices related to air quality and, more specifically, the experiences of the comfort of the users of school buildings.

This conference is aimed at construction professionals, site managers and representatives of territorial groups or public services.

The principal thematic of the contest concerns master thesis project related to air quality problems falling in one of bellow the listed topics.

The Prize consists of a certificate and a plate. The winner will be invited to a ceremony (The date and place of the award ceremony will be announced latter) to receive the prize. Travel and sojourn fees will be covered up to €600 per winner. Academic advisors are welcome to participate in the ceremony, but fees are not covered.

The winners, and their respective institutions, will enjoy promotion trough 3SqAir web page and social media.

The participants in the ‘3SqAir’ project met on November 8 and 9 in Coimbra to present the progress made in recent months. After the pandemic, the attendees held their first face-to-face meeting at the University of Coimbra and exchanged knowledge and experiences. The meetings took place at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC).

During the morning of the first day, there was an exhibition of the pilot projects that are being monitored with the device developed (cube) in the project and the first results obtained.

In the first place, previous measurements were carried out in order, on the one hand, to be able to calibrate them previously and, on the other, so that all the installed devices yielded the same data. In this sense, some of the participants had to change the location of the devices during the first measurements, since the data obtained reflected disparate data.

The parameters being analyzed are: temperature, humidity, CO2, TVOC (volatile organic compounds), formaldehyde and PPM.

In the afternoon there was a presentation where the main objective of the project, members of the consortium, the coffee science and progress of the pilots were transferred. After that, attendees were able to enjoy two keynote presentations on the UNESCO Sustainability Declaration and, secondly, on the context of mechanical ventilation and air quality in Spain.

The following day, an internal work session of the consortium was held, where ZUBIGUNE presented the status of the work packages, the degree of progress of each of them and the key milestones of the last six months of the project. After that, the participants worked on the multi-criteria analysis of the radar developed in work package three of the project, to compare the parameters and validate them under a common measurement criterion. This radar incorporate validation parameters for the twelve pilot projects included in the 3SqAir.

Face à l’urgence climatique, la mobilisation de la jeunesse pour l’environnement est un enjeu majeur. Les espoirs d’un avenir meilleur pour notre planète reposent largement sur les épaules de cette jeune génération. Si nous remarquons déjà les effets du changement climatique, les adultes de demain en subiront de plein fouet les conséquences. Il est alors crucial de conditionner nos enfants dès le plus jeune âge, à une conscience citoyenne et environnementale.

L’éducation et la sensibilisation sont alors des outils privilégiés. Le projet éducatif « Calisph’Air », piloté par le CNES depuis 1995, partage également cette ambition. Porté par des enseignants du primaire au collège, il permet aux élèves de réaliser des mesures locales de la qualité de l’air, et de les comparer ensuite à des données satellites.

C’est en appui à cette initiative pédagogique que Véronique Pont, notamment responsable du master 2 SOAC-DC à l’Université Toulouse Paul Sabatier, a intervenu auprès des élèves du collège de Jacques Mauré de Castelginest (31), au-dessus de la ville de Toulouse,le jeudi 10 mars 2022. Une première séance d’échanges théoriques sur les pollutions de l’air, eté dirigée par l’enseignante-chercheuse, a permis aux élèves d’analyser les mesures qu’ils ont effectuées en amont dans le cadre du projet Calisph’Air avec l’outil Calitoo. Les élèves ont continué ensuite l’expérience en effectuant des collectes des dépôts atmosphériques, à l’aide de collecteurs artisanaux, afin d’observer l’évolution des niveaux de pluie au cours d’un mois. Des petites quantités de cette eau collectée on éte ensuite scrutées au microscope pour essayer de comprendre comment la pluie peut rendre compte de ce l’atmosphère contient.

Dans une seconde intervention au printemps, Véronique Pont a animée une séance d’exploitation des résultats obtenus qui a permis aux élèves de restituer leurs connaissances dans le domaine de la pollution.

L’objectif premier de ces interventions était de « familiariser les élèves sur les polluants qui peuvent les affecter au quotidien » rappelle l’enseignante chercheuse. Mais son ambition s’étend à un défi plus large : celui d’un glissement transgénérationnel et collectif des enjeux du monde d’aujourd’hui et de demain.
